Cocoa the Dog Rocks the Road with a Reggae Band

Cocoa, a chocolate-brown Australian Shepherd, is living the dream on tour with a reggae band. Rescued by the band’s lead singer, Scott Woodruff, Cocoa has become a beloved tour mascot, charming fans in the front row with her paw-shaking antics and collecting treats and toys along the way.

Four years ago, Scott’s dog Holly was tragically killed by a coyote. After weeks of scouring shelter websites, Scott spotted Cocoa’s picture and knew she was the one. The adoption process was a rollercoaster — calls to shelters, Cocoa getting moved around, and even falling ill — but it was all worth it. From the moment they met, their bond was instant.

Cocoa’s personality is all about good vibes. She’s incredibly mellow and adapts effortlessly to any situation. For the past three years, she’s been traveling across the country with the band in a tour bus, even joining them on stage every night. It’s amazing to see such a calm dog thriving in a hectic lifestyle.

Cocoa recently starred in the music video for the song ‘Shadow.’ Filmed on a farm in Northern California with a ’50s-era black-and-white vibe, Cocoa was the natural star among old cars and haystacks. Scott couldn’t imagine leaving her behind while on the road, and Cocoa seems to love the touring life — the people, sights, sounds, and smells of a new city every day.

Her first tour was in 2013 with the band Tribal Seeds. It was a trial run, and everyone was surprised by how much she enjoyed the experience. Since then, Cocoa has been on stage at every show, greeting fans in the front row and receiving new treats and stuffed animals each night.

If Cocoa could pick a famous tour to join, Scott joked she’d choose Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dog, or Nate Dogg, thinking they were actually dogs. Or maybe Slightly Stoopid — she loves them too. Cocoa’s favorite song is “Smiles on Faces” from the new album ‘Set in Stone.’ She never gets tired of it, even when played every night on tour.

Cocoa has her own Instagram account where fans can follow her adventures and see more pictures of this musical pooch.

Cocoa is not just a dog; she’s a vital part of the reggae band’s life and spirit. Her laid-back personality and love for music make her an unforgettable tour companion.
